Believe it's correct technically, multiple editorial errors though

Decent material, though it seems like some material was kept from previous versions that doesn't apply. One example: location 5658 (not sure the page, I have the Kindle version) he refers to a method from the previous chapter that isn't actually in the previous chapter. While I think the technical information is correct, this and a few similar simple errors that it seems like an editor should have caught make me worry.

Might be useful to some, but not me.

This is the last "Teach Yourself XXX..." book I will ever buy. I didn't like the one about C++ I had fifteen years ago either. The authors take several pages to explain something that could have been said in just a paragraph or two with examples. The problem is that they swamp you with words like encapsulation, superclass, constructors, overloading, templates, and so on, up front expecting you to comprehend all of that before they start teaching the language. I would rather learn the language first, then the terminology later.
Like many other programming books, this one is almost 700 pages long, way too long. I am a retired computer programmer well versed in several assembly languages, Fortran, and C++, so I already know the basics. I just want the learn the language. If they can't tell me everything I need to know in less than 400 pages, then forget it.

It's been sad to read "christians" tear down this message

A book and a message that changed my life years ago. It's been sad to read "christians" tear down this message, trying to hyper-critique the ways John shares stories from the Bible or how he speaks to men. Men all over the world found freedom to be themselves in their experience and relationship with God, to begin to actually walk with God, hear His voice and know His heart. I know men all over the U.S. who began to rise up to love their wives, find their calling, engage the lives of their kids, and begin to love the life God has given them and live it well! And thousands of families have also experienced so much good because of this.

If you're the type that feels it's your god-given duty to scour the texts of books to find all "the errors" and expose "heresy", I'm sure you can (or already have) gleefully torn away at John's message. But, honestly, I ask, "Really? Why not just become an IRS agent instead?" And, I say, "Get a life." Sincerely, I say, go get a life that worth's living! Stop hiding behind your computer or your pulpit or your religious duties or your secret addictions and find the wide open spaces of life!

The message of WAH, both in the book and in the retreats Ransomed Heart put on based on this message was an invitation for me to experience God in ways I never thought possible and to experience life in its fullness in ways I never thought possible. And not only was it an invitation, it was permission to finally live my life. Maybe that doesn't make sense to many, but it was a game-changer for me. After returning from a WAH retreat, my wife literally said to me, "What happened? You even look different." My life will never be the same. Nor will the life of my wife and my children.

Very insightful

I was typically skeptical the first couple of chapters into the book. It was pretty basic stuff. We even did a men's study group with an accompanying DVD set. The first couple of the DVD sessions were kind of cheesy. Then the book took a dive into my heart and soul and surprised with some revelation insight that I was not expecting. I doubt other men feel the same, but this book still surprises me with how much it taught me about myself. I would recommend it to every man to read. Even if you don't like it like I did in the end, it provides an education on how we are all shaped and how important it is to realize how our past effects our decisions today.

Such a great boom that any and every guy needs to read. I am presently leading a group of college guys through WAH and they are loving it, especially as they are trying to figure out what being a guy is really all about. for them (late teens, early 20s) and for me (40, married, father of 5) WAH is loaded with good stuff, that not many people are saying.

Excellent Military Book

The Old Dog is no more than an Old B52 Bomber that has been refit for not only offensive air attack but can now protect itself with many high-tech defensive weapons and stealth ability. It has been completely refitted to be a stealth bomber. It is just a prototype of what will be used on the B-1 Bombers that are going to take out a Russian Target. A target that has developed a Laser Beam that is initiated from the ground but bounced off a Soviet Satellite shooting down American spy planes and American Satellites. Well the B-1 sent to destroy this weapon of Mass destruction have been found out by the Soviets. What to do now? Enter the Old Dog! Fast, Fast Paced............. You will love it!

I found the book to be a very enjoyable read. As some of the previous reviews noted, there was the occasional lapse into technological jargon that was a bit difficult to comprehend, but as a Dale Brown, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler fan I didn't find myself feeling out of my depth. I'm glad I bought it and I'm glad I read it. Really gutsy move by Dave Lugar to get them off the ground again.

Okay read..but

It really needs an editor or at least a good reread because there are tooooo many silly errors. I read this because of the other reviews. I wanted to see if they were right. To the reviewer who apparently doesn't understand anything about the Pet play the crating in this was very mild and not cruel in anyway. And about the sharing review, there was only discipline and no sexual sharing which is very common in BDSM books so that was "normal" as well. I say normal because every ones kink is their own and it can vary from couple to couple. Reviews should be about the story and the writing not your own sexual or relationship bias.
Now about the story..the story was okay. Not great and not bad, just okay. Not sure if this was consensual or RACK because the heroine never really got a choice, except to run away of coarse. The pet play was very mild with the premise that it would get deeper as time went by. I liked how Austin was easing her into everything because she was a newbie but a little more communication might of been helpful to save her poor arse..lol
The ending seemed rushed a bit, I think the author said hey I have a hundred pages, time to wrap it up. In other words it should have been longer, especially considering the price.
Giving 4 stars to help the rating but really only a 3 star book, maybe.

Yucky story.................

I usually love Loki Renard's books.....I just couldn't like this one. I stopped and started this book so many times until I just slugged through it. First let me state....I know a LOT of ex-military guys, and not one of them would have shared a girl, or treated one so shabbily. And he hung out with some creeps who he shared her with. Calling it a family so everybody could beat on her was disgusting. That she stayed for it, says little for the leading lady. She might have been trouble, but she had no backbone at all.
Al in all, not a whole lot of caring going on in this story.
